Hidden in Plain Sight
If you are married or have kids, you have undoubtedly heard the frantic call: “I can’t find it!” or “I don’t know where it is!”
So you patiently get up, walk over to the cupboard or the fridge, reach past nothing at all, and pull out the exact item they were looking for. It wasn’t actually hidden—it was sitting right there, directly before their very eyes.
There is a funny trend circulating on social media where a wife leaves her glasses on the kitchen counter. Her husband walks in, puts them on, and suddenly sees what was “invisible” a second ago: piles of unwashed dishes, stray socks, and shoes scattered across the floor. He quickly takes them off, the mess disappears into thin air, and he slowly backs out of the room.
Maybe wives really do have a special sense for seeing the things their families miss. Or maybe things simply stay hidden in plain sight until you put on the right pair of glasses.
The same goes for the way we live. We pack clutter away into a single drawer—hidden from the naked eye, yet crystal clear in our memory. We use brilliant inventions every single day without ever asking where they came from or who thought of them. Our days are full of quiet, unsolved mysteries simply because we never bother to investigate, second-guess our own rules, or look closely at the places where we hide things from ourselves.
Join us next week in Issue 30 for some marvelous discoveries of the extraordinary things hidden right in plain sight.
Hold onto your glasses—you might just see your world a little differently!
