The VIP Guest: Your body

We all know we have to take care of our bodies. We need to eat healthy and we need to exercise. We also need to maintain our health by visiting the doctor for check-ups and getting the necessary vaccines and injections, when needed. We have to stretch and build muscle and stay flexible for as long as possible.

I listened to a program on the radio, and I was laughing so much at these people, most of them, in their forties, still young in my opinion. They were discussing how we need to take care of our bodies, too. The female presenter mentioned, she does some stretches in the morning before getting out of bed, and then more stretches after getting out of bed.

Then her morning routine starts and she heads to the gym. She exercises and eat healthy but then she had to go to a chiropractor because she pulled a muscle. Her reasoning was that you have to exercise to stay flexible and fit, but then you pull a muscle and have to go to the doctor. So, why even exercise? She was laughing at herself and then she showed them a bruise, on her shoulder, after visiting the chiropractor, this doctor had to put something back in place. And now she can exercise for the time being.

We do the same thing with our cars. We drive it around, it gets us from one place to another (the body), then we take it for a service, or new tyres and fill it with petrol (the doctor’s visits and food), When we bump it or has some damage, for some odd reason, we get it fixed (the chiropractor). And when the cars gets too old, you trade it in and buy a new one.

And that is why you should treat your body as a VIP guest, you don’t have more than one body (unless you are trying Frankenstein vibes). You don’t get to trade your body for another and you can’t rent a new one. Your body is not a rental car, it is permanent.

What happens with a rental car? People drive more aggressively, drive faster, brake aggressively and take sharper turns. They park carelessly, the scratches and damages are not their problem. They eat messy food in the car because who cares? It is not mine. They even test the cars limits, drive off road paths and try some things you would never do with your own car.

Then you might as well enter a “Fast and a Furious” pink slip race and race against some bald guy with big arms and raspy voice. Winner takes both cars and you end up walking home.

Don’t treat your body like a rental car. Treat it like own it, because you do. Let it rest. Feed it enough good food and vitamins. Drink water exercise and stretch once in a while. And try not to enter yourself into a pink slip race. I have no idea what would happen to you then.
