Next Week in Brida

We have spent a month talking about rest.

Naturally, we still do not completely agree on what it is.

For some people, rest means stopping. For others, it means movement, routine, music, cooking, switching off a screen or escaping the usual routine altogether.

Next week, Ralf, Babette and the Swimming Club ask why rest matters. Alex, Fabrice and the Lunch table explore the rituals that help them recover. The Atlantic Corridor considers digital rest, while Sylvie brings us the promise—and possible chaos—of a holiday.

Others may take the conversation somewhere unexpected.

Peeling Potatoes almost certainly will.

Together, these tables may give us something more useful than one perfect definition. They may show how rest changes between people, homes, cultures and stages of life—and why one person’s rest can look suspiciously like work to somebody else.

This is the final week of our monthly theme, Rest.

Come with your own answer.

Leave with somebody else’s.
